Lori Downing, LMFT

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (98569)

MA, Marriage & Family Therapy, Hope International University

Let’s face it-- we all experience struggles in life at some time or another.  Sometimes these struggles reside inside us, sometimes they are put upon us and sometimes they just are.  Often times these struggles can leave us feeling overwhelmed, confused, distressed, dissatisfied, alone, and stuck. As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe place for healing, growth and self-discovery.  I do this by connecting with my clients on a deep level; providing a caring and supportive presence and a listening ear.  In this accepting environment, I provide the space for you to talk and gain insight into the real you and the source of your struggles.

This process towards wholeness takes hard work and a strong commitment; however, it can lead to a more authentic and fulfilling life.  I meet you were you are, and I am with you every step of the way.  I truly believe the relationship between the therapist and the client is one of the most important aspects of successful therapy.  And connecting with my clients is my greatest asset.

I take an integrative approach to my work and utilize various modalities and techniques that help you to understand and gain insight into yourself, your relationships and your life’s challenges.  I have worked with individuals, couples, children/teenagers and older adults from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds to help them deal with their struggles and move forward.

I have experience and training in working with women's issues, anxiety, depression, co-dependency, self-esteem, sexual abuse, life transitions, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, spiritual growth, self-harm, play therapy, and groups.  When working with children and adolescents, I like to incorporate play and art into the therapeutic process to ease anxiety, and to provide a non-threatening mode of communication for processing difficult emotions.  I would like to work with you, to help you tap into your true self and to begin taking steps on your journey toward healing and wholeness.
